Fall in Love – with Yourself

“You are always your first priority.” “Help yourself before helping others.” We hear these messages a lot, but they get overwhelmed by marketing encouraging us to splurge on ourselves. Making yourself a priority isn’t an unnecessary or unaffordable luxury. Self-care can be part of your everyday routine. There are practices and habits for every lifestyle and budget. This month’s Girls Night Out is focusing on self-care and all the ways we can take care of ourselves.

Savage Mill is home to a number of holistic healing businesses, many of which will be offering samples of their work.

Temple of Amada

Temple of Amada’s goal is to enlighten your entire being. Their methods harness the body’s and mind’s energy to promote healing. Owner Amy Frondoso will be offering free acupuncture, along with 10-minute sessions of Pulse Electromagnetic Therapy for just $10.

LaRaydiance Wellness Spa Boutique / Kindred Spirits Collective

Stop by LaRaydiance Wellness Spa Boutique to speak with owner LaRay and learn about the skin treatments her business offers. Grab a sample of detox tea from Kindred Spirits Collective, a new natural hair care salon here at Savage Mill that will also be set up in the space.

Gentle Hands Healing Arts

Down the hall in the Old Weave building, step into the intimate Rosebud space for a chance to meet the Mill’s newest tenant, Jessica with Gentle Hands Healing Arts. Relax in a massage chair and receive energy healing for pain management, stress relief, and relaxation for just $1/minute.

International Institute of Holistic Health

Partners Sarah and Maurice are setting up a portable audio-visual enterainment device in the Rosebud space, and offering free, short relaxation/meditation sessions. This is a sample of the type of treatments available in the International Institute of Holistic Health studio in the Carding Building, where science and intuition meet on the path to wellbeing.

Awakening the creative within is another way to take care of yourself and tend to your needs. Check out these special activities:

Alumia Design Studio

A recent addition to the New Weave building, Alumia Design Studio creates handmade, symbolic jewelry. Stop by to sign up for one of owner Hila’s $10 “make your own earrings” mini workshops, being offered every 30 minutes.

Skinsational Scents

Skinsational Scents will be offering a bath spa salt bar in the glass atrium. For a $13 charge, participants will be invited to assemble their own 16 oz. bag of balt salts scented with eucalyptus, lavender, or lemongrass.

Candles by Candy

The intimate candle store Candles by Candy will be offering a Cupid’s Candle Workshop where participants can create special Valentine’s Day candles from 5pm-7pm.

Bead Soup

Down the hallway, Bead Soup will offer their popular make and take earrings for $5. They’ll have plenty of thematic colors and designs to choose between.

Sweet treats are part of the fun of Girls Night Out! Here are some we’re particularly looking forward to:

Sweet Cascade Chocolatier

Find Sweet Cascades Chocolatier on the mezzanine level of the New Weave building. They’ll have a full assortment of chocolates, truffles, chocolate-covered goodies, and more. Arrive early for a free chocolate-covered strawberry!

Roggenart European Bakery Bistro and Cafe

European-inspired drinks, desserts, and sandwiches are the purview of this popular dining destination. For this Girls Night Out, Roggenart is offering two special items – a vanilla lemon tart with lavender-infused whipped cream and a love potion latte. Stop by to grab one while supplies last!

Helping those around us takes us outside of ourselves. For this Girls Night Out, we’re hosting a bath and body products drive to benefit Grassroots Crisis Center. This Howard County-based nonprofit will be on site to accept your donations and share information about their work.

Mental health, body care, creating and learning, and connecting with and helping others all contribute to a healthy, balanced life. Put on your favorite PJs and join us for this cozy, wellness-focused evening!
